Day 4 - Making Up Time

Bummer dude
I was on my route with a vengeance and I had thought I'd be in Nanaimo the previous night so I decided to lay into it and push all the way to Port Alberni. The route was basically the TCH which turns into the Island highway then onto the Alberni highway. Of course not being entirely smart, I overshot the Alberni highway by 10 km and had to add another 20 clicks onto my ride.

Saw some live wildlife finally, only a few deer I think but fun none the less. The Alberni highway dives into a forest with trees taller I than I've ever seen and around beautiful lakes. It was a long day and to end it there was the Alberni summit of 411m which was the steepest bit of hills I had hit yet. Take yer long sleeve shirts off going up and put em on going down.

I flew into town going down the hill to be greeted by distant snow capped mountains and a large shopping area. I poked around  and found out that Walmart lets people camp on their property! Nice to have a decent washroom to use and spot to pick up odds and ends. Slept good that night.
